Jennifer Scanlons Until There Is Justice Essay - Part I

Jennifer Scanlon's Until There Is Justice Essay - Part IJennifer Scanlon, a former juvenile offender has written an essay on her personal experiences as a criminal until there is justice. This essay is one of several essays that focus on the issues regarding our justice system, and if it works. What Jennifer has to say about justice and its effects on the criminals' lives is one of the most honest and truthful things I have ever read in an essay. I found her information to be very useful for my own research.I must admit that there are many great literature on this topic. The same goes for police officers, which are highly skilled and honorable men and women. The people behind the scenes, also. Not all prisoners are guilty. Some of them are not yet fully aware of their crimes and have yet to find out what actually happened that led to their sentencing. It makes sense that most of them need some form of assistance, especially in learning how to manage their lives after their imprisonment .My understanding of this essay is that Jennifer, who once was incarcerated herself, chose to write it from her family members' perspective. She explains how each of her three brothers are currently in prison. I believe she is writing her own story, which she believes will offer insights about justice and incarceration, and how it can affect her own life.Start writing. Write about your family, and write about your understanding of justice. Start learning, and understand that everyone deserves to be treated equally, regardless of the crimes they committed.Just because someone has been a jail inmate before, does not mean they will always be a repeat offender. Start paying attention, and learn, about other people's experiences with incarceration. You may be surprised.Begin speaking up. Start holding politicians and government officials accountable, especially those that receive much of their campaign money from big corporations. This may seem to be a daunting task, but it can be done.
